What is the process of polishing a concrete floor?

Step 1: The floor is cut into concrete slabs. Earlier, the customer was to choose if they wish to have a wet or dry polishing. However, with the new rules of OSHA, the encouragement for wet polishing is on the rise as they use crystalline silica which protects skilled trades of concrete.

Step 2: Once the floor is opened up, a densifier is applied. This is done because the floor is ready to accept the chemical and takes the time to absorb. There are different types of densifiers that include sodium, lithium, magnesium, potassium etc.

Step 3: After application of the densifier, it is left and allowed to dry and cure the broken floor from inside. If the cuts still remain, another layer of densifier is applied. It also improves reflectivity of the floor and then a polishing is done.
